Top outdoor music events this summer

A series of music events and festivals are set to take place outdoors in the city this summer. From global stars at stadiums to classic acts in city parks, the stage is set for a summer of music!

Coldplay at Hampden Park (August 23 & 24)

Coldplay will bring their Music of The Spheres World Tour to Scotland this summer, with the show set to be powered by 100% renewable energy. The globe-trotting foursome have added a second night due to popular demand. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.co.uk.

Acts playing Glasgow's newest venue

Scotland’s newest outdoor music and arts venue, Junction 1, is now open following the multi-million pound regeneration of a former factory in the east end. The venue has a summer festival and series of amazing acts lined up.

  • Rudimental Live (July 28) will headline a full day of music across 2 stages.
  • Tickets are on sale now for Junction 1's Summer Festival (July 29 & 31) with a line-up including Groove Armada, Kelis, Soul II Soul & Faithless and more.
  • Jamaican Grammy award-winning reggae legends Black Uhuru (August 4).
  • London synthpop band Hot Chip (August 5), with support from Pictish Trail.
  • London duo Jungle (August 6) and their band of live multi-instrumentalists.
  • House music royalty Armand Van Helden & Friends (August 13) perform in the city for the first time since 1999.

Summer Nights at The Bandstand (July 27 - August 3)

Summer Nights is a series of concerts taking place at the much-loved bandstand in Kelvingrove Park. Artists confirmed for 2022 include Pixies, Suzanne Vega, Jesus & Mary Chain, KT Tunstall, Rick Astley and Rufus Wainwright. Visit glasgowconcerthalls.com for tickets.

Fèis a Deas (August 27 & 28)

Translated as 'Festival of the South', Fèis a Deas is a weekend long celebration of trad, Celtic and folk music taking place at Queens Park Arena. Artists performing include Moxie, Shooglenifty, Dierdre Graham and Heron Valley. Book tickets at qpa.inhouse.scot.

Platform 18 at West Street, under the bridge (September 24 & 25)

2022 will mark the final outing of Platform 18, after nearly a decade of open-air raves boasting dance music royalty. The organisers are planning on going all-out on the line-up for this final event. Buy tickets at skiddle.com.

Piping Live (August 6-14)

Piping Live! is a week long celebration of piping culture. Expect everything from traditional Piobaireachd (pipe playing) to contemporary bands. Not to mention the lively atmosphere! Visit pipinglive.co.uk to find out more.

World Pipe Band Championships (August 12-13)

The World Pipe Band Championships is a truly Scottish occasion, featuring bands from all over the world competing to be the best of the best. Join over 200 bands featuring around 8000 pipers and drummers for a great experience in Glasgow Green.
