Looking to plan a fun evening out? From independents to big brands, Glasgow is home to many cinemas and comedy clubs to entertain audiences.

Cinema city

  • Glasgow Film Festival (GFF) - The annual GFF programmes world and UK premieres, documentaries, talks and more each spring. 2024's event takes place from 28 February - 10 March. The festival makes its home in the Art Deco Glasgow Film Theatre, with screenings also taking place across the city in various venues. Visit glasgowfilm.org.
  • Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT) - Scotland's original independent cinema offers an amazing year-round programme. See everything from foreign to home-grown, independent to classic in this beautiful old cinema. Visit glasgowfilm.org.
  • Grosvenor Picture House - Recently refurbished, the Grosvenor is a boutique cinema set in the pretty Ashton Lane in the west end. Visit grosvenorpicturetheatre.co.uk.
  • Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA) - Presenting radical and independent screenings on an ad-hoc basis. Visit cca-glasgow.com.

  • Vue Cinema - Kick back in comfort at the Vue Cinema in St. Enoch Centre. Visit myvue.com.
  • Cineworld - The tallest cinema in the world, Cineworld in the city centre shows the biggest blockbusters across their 18 screens. Visit cineworld.co.uk.
  • IMAX - Based at the Science Centre, the largest cinema screen in Scotland offers a fully immersive experience. Visit glasgowsciencecentre.org.

Comedy in the city

  • Glasgow International Comedy Festival (GICF) - Running for 20 years, the GICF brings amazing UK and international talent to perform in venues across the city for 2 weeks each March. 2024's festival takes place from 13 - 31 March. Visit glasgowcomedyfestival.com.
  • The Stand - This famous basement club in the west end offers entertainment 7 days a week. Visit thestand.co.uk.
  • The Glee Club - Both big name and local comedians take to the stage in this city centre venue. Visit glee.co.uk.
