Glasgow's food and drink scene is described as a hotbed of culinary experimentation, with successful street markets, cool cafe culture and award-winning dining. Pubs, cafes and restaurants with outdoor spaces can now reopen, so here's hoping for the good weather to continue and for al-fresco dining all round! Meanwhile, many restaurants and bars are continuing to offer takeaway and delivery services of their meals for people to dine-in from home, whilst the reservations are now live for numerous city venues as they aim to reopen indoor services from July 15 onwards. Check out our guide below to enjoying Glasgow's food and drink scene during Phase 3 out of lockdown.
Cranside Kitchen is a new outdoor venue, with a food market and beer garden, set beside the iconic Rotunda on the banks of the River Clyde. Food is available from five Glasgow restaurants - Rioja, Halloumi, Pickled Ginger, Kilmurry & Co and La Rotunda, served up at bespoke picnic tables. Reservations are required.
The multi-purpose arts venue SWG3 has transformed its Galvanizers Yard into a new outdoor space, Ronnie's Bar and Bike Shop, which can accommodate up to 250 people at one time. Food is available from four leading Scottish street food vendors, Shawarmarama, GaGa Chicken, NOMAD pizza and Julie’s Kopitiam. Reservations are required via SWG3's booking app.
In the city centre, head to Gordon Street for bratwurst hot dogs and tapas at Bier Halle, Brunswick Street to chill out with beers and aperol spritz surrounded by the beautiful buildings of the Merchant City at The Dam or check out the new outdoor terrace at The Citizen, right in the heart of the city centre.
In the west, enjoy a pot of mussels and an ice-cold pint at Brel on Ashton Lane within their beautiful outdoor heated area which includes newly installed fire pits. Cottiers is open for drinks daily and for food Thurs-Sat within their garden venue which has undergone a makeover in advance of reopening, whilst Bananamoon in the stylish Kelvinbridge area has cocktails, beers and cheesy beano toasties on offer!
In the east, enjoy food and locally brewed beers at West on the Green which is set within the city's largest park, Glasgow Green. The boutique inn and hotel, Cathedral House is operating a first-come first-served basis for tables within their stunning terrace garden. Popular cool hangouts, Saint Luke's and The Winged Ox and Drygate are both welcoming customers back to their beer gardens.
In the south, Church on the Hill, located opposite Queen's Park, has reopened their beer garden, whilst Phillies of Shawlands has created a new outdoor space on Pollokshaws Road to serve bites, pizza and beers and the Caribbean bar and canteen The Rum Shack has reopened its cute and colourful beer garden out the back. In the north, Indian restaurant Killermont Polo Club on Maryhill Road has opened their beer garden daily.
The acclaimed Julie's Kopitiam, which appeared in the 2020 Michelin Guide, is a Malaysian and South East Asian Restaurant. Expect good quality and lots of flavour from their at home service, where you can order a set platter for 2 (meat, veggie or vegan) which you can collect from the Shawlands restaurant at an allocated time slot and heat up at home. Get in fast as slots go quickly!
Bar Vini is open for takeaway collections Fri-Sun, with the option to pre-order or just walk-in. Serving up antipasti, homemade baked pasta and natural wines from their trendy Victoria Road base, as well as tasty pizzas from Lazy Susans Pizzeria, vegan pastry treats from Honeytrap Bakery and great coffee from Latteria.
Little Hoi An
Enjoy a taste of Vietnam with the many street food Vietnamese offerings from Little Hoi An. Choose from crunchy chicken in sweet chilli sauce, coconut curry dishes, prawn pho and more. Phone in your order in advance for collection (Wed-Sat, 5-8.30pm).
For fresh Scottish comfort food, try posh neighbourhood fish and chip shop CATCH, which is offering home delivery and click and collect from their Giffnock and Netherlee shops (and their Gibson St branch in the West) from 4.30pm and family meal deals on selected days.
HOOKED Fish & Chips
For more fish and chip options, there is HOOKED Fish & Chips in Mount Florida, which is open for contact free collection or delivery to many local areas. If you feel like a healthy-ish version of the classic potato fritter, then try their aubergine fritter.
Another recent addition to the south's booming cafe scene is Jodandys in Shawlands, which has a mouthwatering selection of cakes. The family-run business is open for takeaway call and collect, as well as limited local deliveries. Recommended for anyone in need of a sugar and caffeine fix, which will be most people just now then!
Noodle and Bun Bar Nanika is continuing to serve up their amazingly tasty food for collection from their restaurant on Victoria Road (Thurs-Sat from 4pm). You might have to queue a little while at this trendy yet tiny restaurant, but with a menu that includes salt and chilli tofu, spicy prawn fries and pork belly bao buns - it'll be worth the wait.
Piatto44 is open for collections and deliveries of their fresh Italian street food, including pizza, gnocchi and pasta. They are also operating a pay it forward scheme for people to pre-pay meals for NHS staff.
Kilmurry & Co
Lazy Sunday brunches are still on! Known for using locally sourced ingredients to create brunch by day and Scottish dishes and cocktails by night, Kilmurry & Co are doing home deliveries from their stylish Shawlands restaurant.
Order a Butcher Pack from The McMillan and have it delivered straight to your door. The pack includes a 16-18oz Chateaubriand, 8oz Flat Iron Steaks, 7oz Steakburgers and 1kg of beef sausages. Ideal for the BBQ or your own at home fine dining experience. They are also now open for takeaway food, draught beer, cocktails, coffee and wine. Call and collect or walk-ins.
Dough for Dough
Dough for Dough operates an ingenious set-up of delivering authentic Neapolitan pizza dough kits to your door. Each kit includes 2 or 4 fresh pizza dough balls, shredded mozzarella cheese (vegan option available) and their house-made tomato sugo. They have also added new choc chip cookie dough kits featuring a mini jar of Nutella and an assortment of toppings. They can also now deliver to most Glasgow postcodes. Great fun and great food for all the family!
For plant-based burritos and burgers that pack a punch, try Trusty Buck's. Usually based in the pub Linen in Shawlands, Trusty Bucks are continuing to operate from their 'festival set-up' food truck. You can order online or call to collect (Wed-Sun) for takeaway. Be sure to try their chana loaded fries!
Short Long Black Coffee
Grab a coffee and cake from Short Long Black Coffee on Victoria Road and purchase a bag of speciality coffee beans to keep you stocked up on quality coffee from home. And why not add a cookie or two for dunking!
Gizzi’s Espresso Bar
Opening at the weekends, the family-run Gizzi's Espresso Bar in Shawlands will be offering breakfast rolls, speciality lunchtime sandwiches, coffee and cake from their handy takeaway hatch! They have also posted some videos on how to make the perfect Italian pizza and easy minestrone soup on their Instagram.
The friendly neighbourhood cafe in Newlands Park, Dandelion Cafe, is open for takeaway business, serving up a great range of bakes and brunches from their in-house bakers, as well as weekend dinners.
Six by Nico
One of the city's biggest restaurant successes in recent years, Six by Nico, has launched Home by Nico. The ever-evolving culinary concept that sees the restaurant change its themed menu every six weeks, is venturing into your home!
Glasgow institution, Ubiquitous Chip is bringing the luxury into lockdown. Each Friday and Saturday, they will have a selection of amazing Scottish fresh produce and drinks to takeaway. For special treats, try their 'oven ready five course dinner' with wine at weekends or their 'date night box' of two bottles of their unique house blends (red and white), two mini bottles of Prosecco and two cocktails of the week.
Number 16 is a great option for a fancy weekend meal, offering a collection and delivery service (5-mile radius) of their modern Scottish cooking, with three courses available for £25. The Byres Road restaurant was one of only two Glasgow restaurants to make it onto the UK Top 100 list from reservation site OpenTable (2020).
Also on Byres Road is Little Italy, whose takeaway service offering coffee, gelato, pizza, focaccia, vino and more is now open daily from 3pm-9pm.
A firm favourite in the west, Stravaigin is back open for takeaway Fri-Sun every week. You can also pre-order their meal boxes – four delicious courses for only £30pp.
Ka Pao is the first city restaurant to partner with itison to launch the new itison at Home dining service. The service offers exclusive menus from some of the city's best restaurants (more to be announced), delivered across Greater Glasgow or available for collection. From Thursday 25 June, you can pre-order Ka Pao's South East Asian tasting menu for two for £45 (vegan option available).
Ox and Finch
The award-winning Ox and Finch is offering delivery and collection of their sharer meals via itison at HOME. Get your order in early, as the sharer menus for two, ideal for special occasions, are sure to go fast!
Hanoi Bike Shop
The Hanoi Bike Shop is back in business (open Fri – Sun from 11am – 6pm). Their menu will include banquets, pho kits, street party boxes, cocktails and wine all available for click and collect.
The team at Five March will start their new delivery and click and collect service this weekend (20 June). Select a ‘main dish’ and it will be accompanied by a selection of four other dishes as well as homemade olive bread, hummus and drinks. Everything will be marinated and mixed, ready to finish off in your kitchen at home.
Fish and chips restaurant Old Salty’s on Byres Road is open for deliveries and takeaways daily from 3pm. Their menu includes Scotch beef, halloumi and chicken burgers, as well as cocktails and delicious Italian ice creams. Their popular fresh half Lobster supper in garlic, lemon, butter and parsley cooked on the BBQ is available as a Saturday night special.
Chaakoo Bombay Cafe
Chaakoo Bombay Café has launched a lockdown menu and opened their venue on Ruthven Lane for contact free collection and delivery, Wed-Sun from 4pm-9pm.
Two Fats to You
Launched by the team behind the fabulous Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery and Two Fat Ladies in the City, Two Fats to You is the new click and collect and delivery service. Available to collect at The Buttery on Friday or Saturday, you can enjoy five indulgent courses for £35 (£30 for their veggie menu). All the dishes are pre-prepared and ready for you to reheat and add the finishing touches at home.
The delightful Cottonrake Bakery has reopened and takeaway bread, cakes and coffee will be available from 9am - 3pm, Wed-Sun. Their limited menu still includes lots of favourites including pastries, scones and cakes and you can also pre-order online.
The popular neighbourhood bakery, deli, brunch spot and restaurant, Cafezique is open for takeaways, Wed-Sun (9am-3pm). Enjoy their smashed avo on toast, delicious sourdough and much more.
Sugarfall is a modern artisan patisserie on Byres Road, now offering a pre-order pick-up & delivery service with some stunning cakes including afternoon tea boxes. Orders are limited so don't miss your chance to get some treats! Visit their website to check what's available.
La Lanterna West End
The award-winning La Lanterna West End Italian restaurant is open from Thur – Sun and is offering contactless collections (order by phone or email) and deliveries via Just Eat and UberEats. Their street food menu is also available for collection from 2.30pm – freshly baked focaccia with your choice of filing and fries for just £5.
The artisan cafe on Crow Road, Kothel are offering a delivery and collection service for its well-known and loved Mediterranean food, coffee and rustic bread. They are now known for their most generous community action, delivering free milk, pasta, tea, porridge and soap to care homes and over 70s in the area.
Pre-order from The Hebridean's new 'at home' website and sit down to some Scottish gastro pub cuisine at the weekend. Choose from the likes of mushroom and leak pie, ox cheek pie and their classic Sunday roast.
Usha's is an Indian street food restaurant with a menu dedicated to vegetarian and vegan options. Order via Just Eat, Uber-Eats or Deliveroo and choose from puri to pakora all designed and inspired by the owner's mother-in-law, Usha Bhalla.
The gastro-style pub, with an emphasis on quality affordable Scottish food, The Drake, is serving up all the pub classics plus freshly poured, click and collect pints. They've also just introduced their new 'bites' menu which is cooked to order while you wait. The serving hatch is open from 3pm on Fridays.
Run by the same family since opening in 1918, University Cafe is a Glasgow institution. The retro cafe will be trialling takeaway from their Byres Road premise, daily from 3pm-7pm (from May 28) as well as deliveries via Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Just in time for those summer ice creams!
Broken Clock Cafe
Broken Clock Cafe has some seriously artisan cakes on offer and they taste as good as they look. They were recently named in Time Out's feature on the '50 Coolest Neighbourhoods in the World' as a must-visit spot within the cool neighbourhood of Kelvinbridge. Pre-order treats for collection or delivery, in the knowledge that this neighbourhood cafe is using some of the funds raised to deliver free cakes to the Royal Infirmary ICU.
Multi-award-winning, family run Cail Bruich boasts a menu with innovative use of the Scottish larder. Check out their Cail Bruich at Home website for details on which postcodes they can deliver to, how to book a collection or delivery slot and the menu. And you will be in charge of handling the finishing touches (with advice from the experts!).
Suissi Vegan Kitchen
Suissi Vegan Kitchen is offering collections and deliveries on Thurs-Sat (5-10pm) and Sun (4-9pm). Known for their Asian-fushion plant-based creations, their menu includes the likes of satay tofu skewers, Thai curry with king trumpet mushrooms, stir-fried kale, and much more, with all dishes free from MSG and artificial enhancers. NHS staff can receive 10% off orders.
Glaswegians love curry! Check out Ashoka Finnieston's condensed menu that includes traditional curries, available in chicken tikka, lamb, mixed veg or paneer, as well as a range of sundries and pakora. They are also offering 50% off for all NHS staff.
Kaf Bakery in Hyndland is open for takeaway with the menu including the likes of sourdough porridge loaf, cinnamon buns and granola. And speciality coffee to complement those home-bakes!
Epicures Hyndland's Home
Epicures Hyndland's Home is available via itison HOME, offering epic shawarma feasts for two. And let's hope the sunshine makes a return as they are also going to be serving up some soft serve ice cream. They also have some excellent gift voucher options to purchase to look forward to enjoying in the future.
La Vita Spuntini
Enjoy great Italian cuisine matched with fine wines and cocktails from La Vita Spuntini who are now offering home delivery via Just Eat. Check out their meal deals too, which include family deals.
Popular street food market, Dockyard Social is offering a click and collect service (Fri-Sun from 12pm-8pm) from four of your favourite Dockyard menus (now including drinks). That means you can order different cuisines and keep everyone happy!
Located on Argyle Street, Baffo Pizza is open for collections and deliveries of their pizzas. Described as offering a fresh perspective on Italian food, Baffo pizzas are sure to hit the spot!
For a mini-market and deli selling scrumptious offerings with loads of fresh fruit and veg, Italian goodies, DIY pizzas to make at home and more, try Santa Lucia on Byres Road. They also have a takeaway menu comprising of their restaurant quality pizza and pasta, available via Just Eat, which is free of charge to NHS and emergency services staff.
El Perro Negro
El Perro Negro in Woodlands is running takeaway collections and deliveries via Deliveroo. As a winner at the National Burger Awards 2019, you know you are in for a satisfying treat (veggie options available also)!
The Square Bar and Restaurant
As a finalist in the 2018 Hospitality and Entertainment Awards for Best Newcomer, The Square Bar and Restaurant is definitely one to try. Based in Broomhill, they are open for deliveries, call and collect, as well as a new drive-thru service! Their menu includes main meals such as steaks and burgers, lighter bites, as well as an extensive drinks list. NHS staff receive a free coffee.
Arrange delivery or collection from Pizza Punks and choose from over 50 unlimited toppings for one flat price. Enjoy hand-crafted San Franciscan sourdough, wood-fired pizza with vegetarian and gluten-free options available. They also have their own ‘Dough it yourself’ kits to buy if you want to make your own!

Brunch favourite Wilson Street Pantry in the Merchant City is open for takeaway coffee and food from 10am – 2pm, Fri – Sun. Order when you arrive or pre-order and let the team know your preferred collection time.
Singl-end Merchant City
Brunch favourite Singl-end Merchant City has opened its doors Fri-Sun for collection and delivery. Pre-order online a selection of delicious breakfast and brunch dishes, salads, cakes and coffee.

TGI Fridays on Buchanan Street are offering a click and collect walk-up service, where customers can select from the menu and pick up during a scheduled collection slot. Hot wings, steaks, fajitas and sizzling nachos are just some of the items on the menu. The restaurant is also taking bookings for dining-in for dates from July 15.
Spitfire Espresso on Candleriggs is open for takeaway food and coffee, daily from 9am – 3pm with beer, wine and spirits also available from 11am.

Bringing the best of French bistro cuisine to your door. Côte at Home delivers high quality chilled bistro meals, side dishes and desserts, created by their chefs and ready for you to cook. The award-winning Paesano Pizza, which was rated as one of Europe's top pizza places by Big 7 Travel in 2019, is operating a click and collect system via Deliveroo with collection from their Great Western Road and Miller Street branches. For an authentic Neapolitan pizza, check out their menu and choose which toppings to go with your tomato sugo, mozzarella, fresh basil and evoo.
Red Bus Bistro
If you have a special occasion why not celebrate at home with Red Bus Bistro and have one of their delightful afternoon teas delivered straight to your door? Pre-order for contactless collection (from their vintage London bus which will be parked at their pick up point on Shuttle Street) or for delivery. Choose from Classic or Gin Afternoon tea. They are also set to reopen for tours and meals on board from July 18 - check their social media channels for details.
The award-winning Red Onion, known for its gourmet modern Scottish cuisine is now offering collections (Fri-Sun). Expect some of their much-loved dishes freshly prepared, chilled and ready for simply reheating at home. They've got a selection of gluten-free and vegan dishes available too.
For a taste of Greece, try Halloumi, who are offering collection from their Hope Street and Pollokshaws Road restaurants and are also available for home delivery via Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats. The menu is packed with small plates with big flavours including the likes of grilled halloumi with pomegranate, gyros and halloumi fries. They are also offering Halloumi Picnic and BBQ packages which are available for collection.
Merchant City institution Cafe Gandolfi has opened its doors for takeaway. From Thursday - Sunday you can choose from a selection of some Scottish favourites including Cullen Skink and fish and chips. They also have coffee and cake, wine and draught beer on offer. They will soon be launching their new concept menu also with beautifully crafted Dine in for Two menus.
Stack & Still
Popular pancake restaurant Stack & Still are offering their ‘isolation bundle’ which includes their special recipe pancake mix, bacon and a giant tub of Nutella. They are also now providing collection and delivery from their City Centre and Glasgow Fort branches on weekends.
For Middle Eastern platters delivered straight to your door, order from Shawarmarama. The street food vendors, who are a favourite at Platform at Argyle St Arches, are delivering to Greater Glasgow, with their meat, veggie or vegan platters (ideal for 2-3 people).
Ginger & Chilli
Another favourite at Platform at Argyle St Arches is Ginger & Chilli. Choose from the likes of Sri Lankan Daal and Chicken Makhani, text your order for some amazingly authentic and flavoursome Asian cuisine.
Mini Grill Steakhouse
Order food and drink for home delivery from Mini Grill Steakhouse. They will deliver within 20 miles of Glasgow and have a great selection on offer, including steaks, desserts and even a kids’ menu.
Bibimbap is doing takeaway and delivery on their ultimate Korean comfort food menu. Their menu is available via Just Eat and Uber Eats and includes vegan and gluten free choices.
Order some delicious sushi, tempura or curry dishes straight to your door thanks to Temaki Glasgow. They have cocktails, wines and beers available too.
Experience Scottish Fine Dining from Dennistoun's Bilson Eleven. Make your order at the start of the week for a set meal for 2 which includes main, side, dessert and bread. You can collect or receive a delivery (Saturday's only; Dennistoun area only) and sit down to an amazing weekend dining experience.
A favourite in the east neighbourhood, especially when the sun is shining, is WEST Brewery set in the stunning Templeton Building in Glasgow Green. The master brewers are now serving takeaway food and drink from their beer garden every week from Thursday to Sunday, 1pm - 6pm, weather permitting. They will have their famous currywurst, Gerwegian hot dogs and fries and pizzas on offer as well as 1-litre bottles of draught beer.
It’s time to treat yourself during these times! Sample some tasty sweet and savoury bakes from Akara Bakery. Open Wed-Sun for collection and delivery to selected areas.
Popular café bistro, Tibo in Dennistoun is offering collection or home delivery, Fri-Sun, from their lockdown menu. With popular vegan and vegetarian cooked breakfasts and French toast and filled morning rolls.
BAKED pizza al taglio
BAKED pizza al taglio specialise in large rectangular Roman-style pizzas sold by the slice. They are offering delivery (selected areas) and collection on warm or cold pizzas to be heated at home.
Sweet Jane Bakehouse
New on the scene and offering some incredible fresh home baking available for takeaway is Sweet Jane Bakehouse. Available Thur-Sat, simply pre-order bread, buns and doughnuts and collect from Mesa across the road.
Drygate Brewing Co known for their love of all things beer are offering a delivery and collection service. Order some of your favourite spirits and beers through their online shop for delivery or pick up, available Tuesdays and Fridays between 12pm and 2pm. Get a taste of their new beer releases which include Dancing with Myself and Better off Alone, very fitting to the times. Their beer garden is also now open.
Order online for collection or delivery with Rockvilla Pizza for authentic sourdough pizza, made with Strianese San Marzone tomato sauce and fresh locally sourced toppings. Beer and wine are also available to order.
Try Coorie Cafe for cake box weekend treats, which include at least 5 slices of different delicious cakes and traybakes. They have also added picnic boxes to their menu including a selection of homemade sausage rolls, pies and other treats. Direct Message them on Facebook or email to place an order.
Restaurants, cafes and bars can open indoors from July 15. Many of those mentioned above are working towards reopening from July 15 or around this date (check individual websites for exact details). Many will operate a reservation-only system.
The contemporary Scottish restaurant, Ardnamurchan, based on Hope Street is taking reservations for dates from July 16. The team behind the Highlands and Islands inspired restaurant has redesigned their space with safety measures, such as screens, to allow for intimate dining for 2 or private dining for up to 16.
Named the coolest brunch spot in Scotland by the Sunday Herald, Partick Duck Club will reopen on July 15. Online bookings are now live for the west neighbourhood haunt which is run by two chefs who have worked in the best hotels and restaurants in Scotland. The Thornwood on Dumbarton Road, known for its comfort food, will open both indoor and outdoor spaces from July 15. Grosvenor Cafe is taking reservations for reopening on July 23.
Platform at Argyll Street Arches will return on July 18, bringing together the best independent food traders, serving up a great variety from quirky food trucks. Based within the refurbished former arts venue, The Arches, the street food market is ideal for friends and families.
