  • Address: 97 Buchanan St, Glasgow G1 3HF, United Kingdom

Buchanan Street

Inspired by the works of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the Willow Tea Rooms at 97 Buchanan Street are modelled on Kate Cranston’s Ingram Street Tea Rooms from the early 1900s recreating the fabulous interiors from the White Dining Room and the Chinese (Blue) Room.

The extensive use of contrasting colours within the rooms adds to the atmosphere and experience. The White Dining Room is a light bright room with elegant high backed chairs and leaded glass. Head upstairs to the Chinese Room, enjoy the vibrancy of the brilliant blue tones, the replica domino chairs and the great window views of one of Glasgow’s most famous streets, whilst enjoying a scrumptious afternoon tea.

The Willow at Watt Brothers

Located on the 3rd floor of this well-known Glasgow institution which recently celebrated its 100th birthday, the two family businesses, Watt Brothers and the Willow Tea Rooms, both firmly believe in putting the customer first.

In 1929 the original Watt Brothers store at 119-121 Sauchiehall Street was extended, with the architects involved being the firm of Keppie & Henderson, the one-time employer of a certain young architect, a Mr Charles Rennie Mackintosh!

The store in Sauchiehall Street with its walnut panelling, magnificent ceilings and grant sweeping staircase was a visitor attraction in its own right. Add in the Willow Tea Rooms with their interiors inspired by Mackintosh and you have a mix that is sure to please!

Tasty Treats at the Tea Rooms

Visitors can choose from a range of Scottish savoury dishes, and a wide selection of meals, snacks, teas and coffees. For that special occasion, afternoon tea is a favourite choice with a delicious selection of homemade cakes from the cake trolley, all served with tea or coffee from their extensive menu.
