Glasgow Welcomes the World's Biggest Week of Piping!
Glasgow is putting the finishing touches to preparations for the biggest celebration of piping and pipe band music on the planet. This August will see the return of Piping Live! Glasgow International Piping Festival and the World Pipe Band Championships.

Piping Live! from August 8-14 showcases concerts from the world’s top traditional musicians, performances by pipe bands from across the globe, family fun days and ‘come and try’ sessions.
George Square will be a focal point of the festival with daily performances kicking off from 12 noon with bands from around the globe and a selection of tasty food and Scottish gifts will be available at the Pipers' Market.

This year’s festival headliners the Red Hot Chilli Pipers – arguably the most famous pipe band on the planet – perform a fusion of traditional Scottish music with rock / pop anthems. The Chilli’s will be performing at the ‘After the World’s Shindig’ – the ultimate after party on Saturday, August 13 at the O2 ABC.
The World Pipe Band Championships, Glasgow Green, August 12 & 13
The unmissable sight - and sound! - of more than 230 pipe bands in the one place doesn’t happen every day. But it’s one that spectators in Glasgow Green will be enjoying on Saturday, August 13, at the World Pipe Band Championships 2016.
Saturday’s spectacular championship event is accompanied by a great programme of family attractions including the very best of Highland Dancing, awe–inspiring feats of strength at the World’s Highland Games, Children's Zone and a huge variety of food and drink. With a family ticket only £31 when booked in advance, it really is a great day out for everyone.
Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band are defending world champions after they became the first Scottish band to win the coveted title in more than a decade. Head to Glasgow Green to find out who will be crowned Champions of the World in 2016!
