MONKFISH GOAN CURRY

Masala Twist's Monkfish Goan Curry has its origins from the coastal region of Goa, famous for the local melt in the mouth monkfish, cooked in a traditional goan style and tempered with mustard seed, curry leaf and fresh coconut.

THE RECIPE

INGREDIENTS: 

Ingredients For Fish:

  • 300 grams of Monkfish Tails
  • 4 spoons ginger garlic paste
  • 2 Tbsp refined oil

For the curry:

  • 4 chopped onions
  • 1.5 dry red chillies
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 tsp cumin powder
  • 4 Tbsp refined oil Curry leaves
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 jug coconut milk Coriander leaves
  • 2 Chopped tomatoes

METHOD:

For Fish:

  • Marinade the fish with ginger garlic paste and set aside for 2 hrs.
  • After 2 hrs heat up the pan, drizzle with 1 tbsp refined oil.
  • Add some curry leaves, 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds, 3-4 dry red chillies.
  • Sauté it till the mustard seeds start to pop and crack.
  • Add the fish & sauté it for 4-5 mins then set aside.

For the curry:

  • Heat up the pan and drizzle it with some refined oil.
  • Add chopped onions and let it brown, then add chopped tomatoes, cumin powder, coriander powder and garam masala powder.
  • Cook it for few mins then add coconut milk to it and let it simmer for 5-7 mins.
  • Grind the mixture and add it to the pan.
  • Then add marinated fish and heat gently for 2-3 mins.
  • Finish it with chopped coriander leaves.
  • Serve and enjoy!
