With endless choices of toppings and savoury or sweet recipes, I believe that pancakes can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And with Pancake Day looming, I’ve been looking for some inspiration to treat my loved ones this year.
Then look no further as the chefs at Café Gandolfi, Hutchesons and the Hillhead Bookclub have some fantastic pancake-y offerings prepared – and they’ve even shared the inside secrets of their coveted pancake recipes too!
From classic dishes such as ‘Eggs Benedict’ to ‘Brioche French Toast’, Café Gandolfi really know how to do breakfast.
For me, a perfect Sunday brunch would be one of Café Gandolfi’s signature breakfast dishes; ‘Pancakes with Stornoway Black Pudding and Mushrooms’, washed down with a cappuccino and a glass of their freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice.

A quirky venue, where you can catch a game of ping-pong whilst drinking a cocktail from a gramophone (though I wouldn’t recommend trying both at once!), the Hillhead Bookclub serves good honest food at a good honest prices.
On the menu, their pancakes are simply topped with bacon, or served with honey, jam and butter. Though - especially for us - they’ve come up with a recipe for ‘Pancakes with Butterscotch and Caramelised Banana’ served with hazelnut ice cream. For the recipe click here.
In the iconic Grade A-listed building in the heart of the Merchant City, even the setting makes tucking into pancakes at Hutchesons a very special treat.
As their menu staple, Hutchesons serve up the dreamy combination of ‘Pancakes with Caramelised Banana, Chocolate & Canadian Maple Syrup’. But when asked share the inside secrets of their pancakes with us – they lovingly created ‘Fluffy Scottish Pancakes with Glenfarclas Whisky Butter’ - get the recipe here.

Served with butter and ‘Grade A Canadian Ember Maple Syrup’, TriBeCa’s buttermilk pancakes can also be topped with no less than 17 topping options.
I must confess – I had Wee Guys’ ‘Blueberry Pancakes with Banana and Maple Syrup’ a couple of weeks ago and I’m still dreaming about them! Cappuccino was great too - a perfect weekend brunch stop!

With New York pancake stacks on offer such as the ‘Banana Beast’ and ‘Hershey Heaven’ – I’m booking my table at Nic's NYC Deli for Pancake Day today.
The Hyndland Café
Made fresh to order, the Hyndland Cafe serve short stacks of hot griddled pancakes with maple syrup or Nutella with the option to be cheeky and add bacon or berry compote.
Willow Tea Rooms
The Willow Tea Rooms is a fruit-lovers dream; ‘Pancakes served with Banana, Seasonal Berries and Maple Syrup.’
A pancake classic, the Hope can do no wrong serving their pancakes with bacon and maple syrup.
